new talents - biennale cologne

Every two years, the biennale presents more than 50 selected graduates from the regional arts academies (KHM Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln, Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, KISD Köln International School of Design and ifs internationale filmschule köln amongst others) plus national and international guests.

After the inaugural edition took place in the Cologne Rheinauhafen 2008, new talents has started focussing on selected locations in Cologne's cultural quarter around Neumarkt with the second edition of the biennale in July 2010. The fourth edition of the festival is now happening again right in the middle of this part of the Cologne city center and additional cooperation venues.

The aim of new talents is to shift the focal point to the young graduates, their works and their skills. With exhibitions, screenings and presentations, new talents creates a platform where these artists and creatives can showcase their works. At the same time does the festival enable the broad public to sample the vast artistic output from the different areas and makes Cologne, Bonn and the Rhineland visible as centres for arts education.
